Teeth Whitening Glasgow

Teeth Whitening

Take advantage of our amazing in practice laser teeth whitening. This is only available at 1Smile Dental Clinic in Glasgow.

Teeth Whitening Glasgow

Laser teeth whitening GlasgowTooth whitening is popular cosmetic treatment. As we grow older our teeth generally become naturally darker in shade. Teeth can also be made darker by our eating and drinking habits e.g. tea, coffee, red wine and cigarettes can all cause staining. However, tooth whitening is a simple, yet highly effective procedure to lighten teeth.

At all our clinics in Glasgow we offer two different methods of teeth whitening. If its quick results you are after we can offer you in-surgery whitening. You simply come in to the practice, we isolate your gums and lips making sure only your teeth are exposed. Then we apply a high concentration of tooth whitening gel to your teeth and 30 minutes later you can leave with a whiter smile. The gel we use has a built in desensitiser so you shouldn’t feel minimum sensitivity during or after the procedure. Patients have had great results with some people getting up to 6 shades lighter!

Custom Made deep bleaching trays only available from a dentist

teeth whitening glasgow

The second method we can offer you is our take-home teeth whitening kit. To get started you attend for a short appointment for us to take impressions of your teeth. We then send these impressions to the lab and have custom made trays made for you and send you home with 4 syringes of whitening gel. The trays are made to fit only your teeth and have little wells for the gel to be applied allowing for maximum coverage and minimum leakage. The beauty of this method is that you are in control. Once you have achieved the tooth shade you want you stop using the gels. Whatever you have left can be used when you feel your teeth are becoming darker again. If the trays are looked properly after they can last for years. All you have to do is visit us and purchase some more syringes of whitening gel.

If tooth whitening is something you are interested in please do not hesitate to book in for a consultation. We can discuss if tooth whitening is appropriate for you and which method may best suit you.

“I always wanted to try tooth whitening and decided to go ahead and treat myself. Now after seeing the results I could not be happier, I didn’t even recognise my own teeth. Definitely recommend  it to anyone ”  Alex

Do you need sedation for dental treatment?

Sedation for dental treatment

Dental Sedation

At 1Smile Dental Clinic, we understand that visiting the dentist can be difficult for some patients due to anxiety that’s why we offer IV Sedation. This is arguably the best Sedation for dental treatment available.

Our Glasgow city centre Dental Clinic is the main practice where our sedation clinic is held and our team are very experienced in this field. We aim to offer you a friendly and welcoming environment to help you overcome your dental phobia. As well as offering this treatment to our own patients we are also a sedation referral practice for dentist all over Glasgow. We have many dental practices that refer their patients to our clinic to have NHS treatment under sedation.

Why would you need sedation?

Every patient is different and has their own reason as to why they are nervous about attending the dentist. The most common reason for patients being anxious are:

  • Needle Phobic
  • Bad experience previously
  • Medical condition
  • Dental phobia
  • Gag reflex
  • Complex treatment

What is IV Sedation?

IV stands for intravenous which is how the drug gets administrated into your body. The sedative is called Midazolam and is administered through your vein. You will start to feel the effect of the sedation within seconds and you will become dizzy and sleepy but will remain conscious!!

What are the benefits of IV sedation?

The aim of IV sedation is to make you feel relaxed and at ease for the dentist to carry out any necessary treatment you require. You may feel very sleepy and lie back on the dental chair and close your eyes but you will still be able to respond to what the dentist is telling you. The main benefit of IV sedation is that it is very safe and you are still in control during the treatment. As mentioned before IV sedation starts to work within seconds of being administered into your system and also wears off quite quickly so you will not feel the effects of it hours later.

What will my dental appointments be like?

Your first appointment at our 1Smile Dental Clinic will be a consultation appointment.

At this appointment our dentist will inform you of the treatment that you require and explain all the different options you have in regards to your treatment. We will ask you to fill in a medical history form so we can see if you are fit for sedation. If everything is ok and you agree to your treatment then we will make you a sedation appointment. Our sedation clinics run very regularly so you will not be waiting long for an appointment.

The day of your sedation appointment you are unable to eat or drink anything for 4 hours before your appointment. It is essential that you bring an escort that will be able to remain with you for the rest of the day and will they have to remain in the clinic while you are having your treatment done under sedation. After your treatment is completed you will have to remain in recovery for around 20/30 minutes until the sedationist allows you to go.

At our 1Smile Clinics we always emphasise that following sedation you are unable to drive, consume alchohol, sign any legal documents, look after small children and operate machinary for the remainder of the day.

How much does IV Sedation cost?

We offer IV Sedation under the NHS Dental Treatments along with any treatment that you requite. Prices vary and all costs will be discussed with you at your consultation appointment. Consultation appointments at our 1Smile Dental Clinics are free.

We welcome all new patients and offer this service to patients who are nervous about visiting is. We aim to provide the highest standard of dentistry therefore your comfort and treatment is our main priority.

Please do not hesitate to contact our Glasgow West End Dental Practice on 0141 339 6325 if you request an appointment. We are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Considering tooth whitening?

Tooth whitening has became very popular over the past few years and more people are enquiring about it every day. It is the most effective way to get the bright white smile that you want without involving any major dental treatment.

There are a number of reasons why people would consider tooth whitening for example:

  • Stained teeth – The main causes for stained teeth are smoking, drinking tea/coffee/red wine and on some occasions certain medication can also cause staining on your teeth.
  • Brighter smile – Everyone wants the perfect Hollywood smile and tooth whitening can sometimes totally transform someones whole appearance. It may be that you have a special occasion coming up such as a wedding and you want to look your best.

At our 1smile Clinics we offer 3 different types of tooth whitening and our dentists will always discuss what the best option is for you at your consultation.

  • In – Surgery whitening:

This type of tooth whitening will be done in the practice by your dentist and will approximently take around 1 hour of your time. The procedure is very simple and causes very little discomfort to you. We would firstly isolate your gums with special material  and take a note of the shade your teeth are at the moment.  Place the whitening gel onto your teeth and leave it to work. The whitening gel will then be removed and applied again, this will be repeated a few times to get the best possible result. After this has been done we remove all the material from your mouth and again and take a shade match to show how many shades your teeth have lightened.

  • Take home tooth whitening:

Our take home tooth whitening is very popular due to the fact that you do it yourself inthe comfort of your home. Some people get panicked with this idea but it is very simple to do and you can do it in your own time. At your first appointment we would take impressions to send them to the laboratory to have your own custom made bleaching trays constructed and take a shade match and photo of your previous teeth shade. The trays are made to fit only your teeth and have little wells for the gel to be applied allowing for maximum coverage and minimum leakage. You would then return to the practice and your dentist would demostrate how to use your trays with the whitening gel. We advise that the whitening gel should be left on your teeth for around 2 hours each day for about 2 weeks to get the best possible result. After the 2 weeks you would come back for a consultation appointment and we would show you the shade difference. The main advantage of this option is that you are in control.

  • Enlighten tooth whitening:

Enlighten tooth whitening has became increasingly popular after featuring in various fashion magazines and TV make over shows. It is a combination the both options above, In surgery whitening (done by your dentist at our 1smile clinic) and take home whitening (which you do yourself at home)

This method is guarenteed to lighten your teeth to a “Vita B1 shade” which is the lightest shade on a normal dentist shade guide. Enlighten is definetly the best on the market and our patients  have been very happy with the results.

Prices from:

In- Surgery Whitening = £90.00

Take home tooth whitening = £195.00

Enlighten tooth whitening = £645.00

All consultations at our 1smile clinics are free  so if you are considering tooth whitening please do not hesitate to contact us and we would be happy to discuss thing further with you.

Missing Tooth Glasgow

The majority of patients keep their teeth for life, however sometimes teeth can be lost or do not develop.  This advice sheet gives information on some of the techniques that can be used to replace missing teeth.

Methods of replacing missing teeth

Removable partial denture

Made of plastic and/or metal. The adjacent teeth are not affected. It is quickly and easily installed and is relatively cheap.

Resin bonded bridge

An artificial tooth is glued to adjacent teeth. Can potentially look quite good. Not a need to trim down natural healthy teeth. Not as permanent as other options as the glue will eventually fail and have to be reinstalled

Fixed dental bridge

Involves grinding down adjacent teeth to support the bridge. Around 30% chance grind down teeth will require root canal therapy over time

Dental implant supported crown

The new tooth should fit and function like a natural tooth
